Tracey
Founding Member & Chairperson
Learn more about Tracey
Tracey was a Founding Member of pause4change in 2012.
She had a vision to create a rescue that would help shape the industry with more collaboration; working together to make a positive impact for the animals and our communities.
Tracey has had many dogs who have taught her so much about setting up dogs that have fearful and shy behaviours for success. She currently shares her home and heart with Barkley, the world’s greatest mouth-kisser.
Her #1 dog-friendly place in Calgary is her own home, which is always full of rescues and amazing people that drop by to socialize and assist with many puppy needs. Everyone is welcome and the dogs love it!
“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Katie
Director
Learn more about Katie
I’ve been involved in animal rescue since 2011 and joined pause4change in 2014, leading the fundraising and events team.
Over the years, I’ve fostered some amazing animals, including pause4change’s first official cat intake, Uno, and his brother, Ropurrto. In 2017, I met my sweet dog, Mya, through fostering, and she quickly became part of my family. She brought so much joy into my life, and though she crossed the rainbow bridge in 2024, she’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I have now adopted Lenny, another pause4change pup who keeps me on my toes, he’s full of personality and an expert snuggler!
Being part of pause4change has been such a rewarding journey, and I’m grateful play a role in helping animals find the love and care they deserve.

Stephanie
Director
Learn more about Stephanie
Stephanie has been with pause4change for 3 years and is the Social Media Coordinator. She also does post-adoption follow-ups and screening.
Stephanie chose pause4change because their values aligned with her own. She feels proper training and responsible pet ownership are important to help create a better world for our animals and wants to help make as much of a difference as she can!
Stephanie adopted her dog, Laska in 2019 as a foster fail. Laska is a big goofy fluff ball and is her best friend. Stephanie can’t imagine her life without her!
Stephanie recommends Play Unleashed (near Airdrie) as a great place to go with your pup. Play Unleashed is a private, off-leash dog park that you can rent for your furry family!

Drae
Director
Learn more about Drae
Drae has been involved with pause4change since 2012 and joined the Board of Directors in 2022 as our Education and Dog Behaviour Coordinator.
She originally became involved with pause4change as a training partner and has assisted countless pause4change adoptive and foster families with behaviour support over the years. Drae holds the CBCC-KA (Certified Behaviour Consultant Canine- Knowledge Assessed) and FDM (Family Dog Mediator) certifications and is a certified SAPro Trainer (Separation Anxiety). Being a strong advocate for behaviour education, her values naturally aligned with those of pause4change right from the start!
Drae shares her life with pause4change alumni Brom Bones; a 1-year-old Rottweiler/Newfoundland/Pyrenees mix, and a 17-year-old orange tabby cat named Presley. Brom Bones is determined to be everybody’s best friend; whether you are human, dog, cat, or otherwise. Presley is a wonderfully social cat who is always up for a training game. He has an outstanding recall and would never miss the chance to feast on freeze-dried liver, cheese, or tripe.
“The greatest pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you but he will make a fool of himself too.” ~Samuel Butler

Samantha
Director
Learn more about Samantha
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to make a difference in the lives of animals and help them feel safe, loved and understood. Naturally, I became a certified dog trainer! I have always wanted to work along side of a rescue who made an impact not only on the animals in their care but the community as a whole! This is how I became involved with pause4change.
I have two Standard Breed Bernedoodles (Harlaigh and Westley) who are the light of my life and I am getting married to my fiancé in September, 2025! Westley, my younger dog, is the reason I became a dog trainer due to some severe behavioral concerns such as allergies, anxiety and dog centered resource guarding.
Educating the community through social media and hands on training about fear free training and helping others build a life long relationship with their pets is something I am incredibly passionate about. If you have any questions about dog training do not hesitate to reach out!

Jaymi
Director
Learn more about Jaymi
My name is Jaymi, and I have been proudly involved with pause4change since 2016. I chose to volunteer with this organization because of its commitment to quality over quantity and the strong sense of community it fosters – it truly feels like family.
Currently, I serve as the Adoption Event Coordinator, where I help connect rescue animals with their forever homes.
I share my life with Rooney, a 9-year-old German Shepherd Cross. Our journey together, particularly navigating his reactivity, has been both challenging and rewarding. You can follow our story on Instagram at @reactiverooney.
One of my favorite pet friendly businesses is Play Unleashed in Balzac – a fantastic place for dogs to play and explore safely.
A quote the deeply resonates with me is “You can’t change an animal’s past, but you can rewrite their future.”

Aubree
Director & Feline Adoption Coordinator
Learn more about Aubree
My name is Aubree McIntyre. I started fostering cats with Pause4Change in 2019 after losing my cat of 19 years. I wasn’t ready to adopt yet, but my home wasn’t the same without a cat around. After a co-worker suggested fostering, I researched different rescues and found pause4change.
After fostering my first kitten (Pekoe), I wanted to do more in the rescue, so while continuing to foster, I started on the cat screening team, which progressed to becoming the Team Lead for Cat Screens and Cat Foster Homes and eventually, to my current position as a member of the Board of Directors.
My second cat I fostered was Victoria, who quickly won my heart and became a foster win. When I fostered Rupert (Rupie), he quickly became Victoria’s emotional support buddy and they were inseparable and I knew I had a second foster win! These two are two peas in a pod! Victoria is my sensitive soul, who has come leaps and bounds since she first came into care and Rupie, is my silly 3 year old boy!
My favourite pet business I like to support are Homes Alive and Paws Pet Food & Accessories.

Andrea
Director & Canine Adoption Coordinator
Learn more about Andrea
Andrea began volunteering with pause4change in 2020 after adopting her dog Aspen (formerly Destiny). She was immediately drawn to the rescue’s dedication to education, its thoughtful adoption process, and the incredible passion of its volunteers—each of whom consistently puts the well-being of animals first.
Since joining the volunteer team, Andrea has embraced a wide variety of roles, including food pickup, fostering, working events, intake, transport, and conducting phone screenings. In the spring of 2024, she stepped into her current role as the Canine Adoptions Coordinator.
At home, Andrea is mom to three beloved dogs:
Everest (8) – a Newfie cross with a nurturing, mom-like presence who lovingly guides every foster through their stay.
Aspen (5) – a pause4change alum with a quirky and endearing personality.
Nero (3) – pause4change alum and proud foster “fail” who takes his job of guarding the yard (and his people) very seriously as the only male in the household.
Andrea’s favourite pet-friendly place (other than camping) is the offleash dog park in Diamond Valley.
Andrea’s philosophy on rescue is simple but powerful:
“My biggest accomplishment in life will never be about money—it will be all the animals I loved and saved.”

Jennifer
Director
Learn more about Jenny
Jenny is a member of the Pause4change (P4C) Board, she manages the Canine Foster Portfolio and leads the Canine Vaccination Team.
She has been a Volunteer with P4C since retiring as a nurse in 2023. Introduced to P4C via Facebook, she found and fell in love with a pup named Cassidy. Throughout the adoption process, Jenny was impressed with the caring attitudes of the Board members, thus joined in with the rescue mission.
While carrying out vaccinations, in partnership with her sister (and Cassidy who joins for the car rides), Jenny has had the pleasure of meeting many lovely fosters and sweet canines, this has inspired her to become more active in helping to find canine forever homes. If she is not with her family, chasing the grandchildren and their pets, she can be found on a long run, at the tennis courts or baking in the kitchen.
